Crane Operator

A crane operator is a qualified professional who must have official certification for operating self-propelled mobile cranes and tower cranes . In Spain, this license is issued by the autonomous communities , in accordance with Royal Decree 837/2003 and industrial safety technical regulations.

The license is valid for five years and must be renewed periodically to ensure the operator maintains physical and technical fitness.

Requirements for renewing the license

  1. Official renewal form (available on the autonomous community's website).
  2. Valid DNI/NIE.
  3. Previous license.
  4. Medical certificate of fitness (issued by a Psychotechnologist).
  5. Proof of payment of fees.

Where the renewal is carried out

  1. Before the competent body in matters of industry of your autonomous community (normally, General Directorate of Industry or equivalent, Xunta de Galicia).
  2. In some communities, it can also be done via the regional electronic headquarters (with a digital certificate or Cl@ve ).
