Nautical Licenses
15% discount for unemployed people and those over 60 years of age
Recreational nautical qualifications allow you to operate motor and sailing vessels for sporting or leisure purposes. In Spain, these licenses are regulated by Royal Decree 875/2014 and are issued by the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine or the autonomous communities with transferred powers.
When is a renewal required?
- As a general rule, the License is valid for 10 years.
- It must be issued by a Driver Recognition Center (CRC)
Where it is presented
- At the Maritime Captaincy or at the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine.
- It can also be done at the Xunta de Galicia
Necessary documentation
- DNI/NIE válido.
- Copia do título orixinal (se se conserva).
- Xustificante do pago das taxas. Se a licenza caducou, a administración cobrarache máis taxas, polo que recomendamos renovala mentres aínda estea válida.
Recommendations
- Always keep a digital copy of your license. Furthermore , since the license is now available in paper format, we recommend keeping it in a waterproof container, without laminating it.
- Make sure your nautical medical certificate is valid if you plan to charter or sail boats abroad.
- If your license is old (for example, " titulín "), consider upgrading it to the Navigation License (LN) through a 6-hour practical course.
- Always renew before it expires , otherwise you will have to pay a higher than usual amount in renewal fees.
